Happy 2013!! I know I’m about 30 days late saying that but that’s ok. 🙂
On January 1st I went through my Instagram photos on my phone and looked back at all the things that happened in 2012. I tried to figure out some way to put together this grand New Years post speaking eloquently on what I accomplished last year and the excitements that were to come in the new year. But I was tired and hungry and instead just stared blankly at the computer. I felt I was failing somehow by not posting some motivating, hit-the-ground-running-and-start-the-new-year-off-right post. But the truth was I was just sooo tired .. I had the most amazing fall portrait and wedding season and had finally gotten all caught up on all the holiday rush of orders. We spent Christmas in both Minnesota and Maryland and celebrated for 2 weeks straight with family .. and I was finally home and able to wear sweatpants all day long .. so I didn’t stress over it and instead decided to hit the ground running with a string cheese and a nap. 😉
But, to be honest I really think last year was the best year of my life so far!! So now on Jan 31st I will honor a few of the highlights of 2012 through a few randomly organized i-phone photos.
To summarize I learned to sew .. and made my first quilt (well the top anyway), tried to get all earthy and stuff and attempted an urban garden, started a photo booth with Tony, made (almost) all handmade gifts, and I was even on TV taking photos for Extreme Makeover Home Edition.
I worked with some incredible clients and documented some of the most gorgeous weddings! Weddings in sunflower fields, on the North Shore of Hawaii and even one in Germany!! I seriously have such an amazing job!!
I got to travel .. a LOT .. and to some amazing places. I spent time in New Orleans, California, New York, Minnesota and Vermont. I spent a week in paradise in Oahu, Hawaii. Aaannnddd I finally got a legit stamp in my passport when we went to Germany and France! I still can’t believe how blessed I was to have all of those adventures last year.
And finally and bestest of all .. I got engaged to Tony!!! We are getting married!!
2012 was incredible and I can’t imagine it getting any better but I’m confident that 2013 will somehow top it.
We are currently packing up all of our belongings to move to the cutest little red house in Hampden .. We movin’ to Bawlmor, hon!! .. We will be moving Tony’s woodshop after that .. We get MARRIED in April and then celebrate with family and friends with some parties in June. The next 6 months are going to be a whirlwind of crazy and I can’t wait for all of it. I want to soak it all in and remember all of it so I’m sure I’ll be sharing some of it on this little blog too. I hope you’ll follow along.
Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in all the craziness and stresses of how much our lives are changing right now so I’m trying to embrace it all and enjoy … My yoga teacher read us something yesterday that I felt really applied to my current state of mind .. so I thought I would share it …
“Change is not something that we should fear. Rather, it is something that we should welcome. For without change, nothing in this world would ever grow or blossom, and no one in this world would ever move forward to become the person they’re meant to be.” (B.K.S. Iyengar)
